For homeschool families, co-ops, learning centers and small private schools

You started a school, not a spreadsheet.

Somehow the job became chasing forms, matching payments to families and answering the same question in three group texts. SchoolOpEx puts enrollment, attendance, grades, messages and tuition in one calm app that staff and families use on any phone.

The head of school’s Today screen at a made-up school: a greeting, counts of students, households, staff and classes, attendance taken in 14 of 18 classes, one open concern, and a Needs you panel with two decisions.

Real screens from the build. A made-up school with made-up people.

Who SchoolOpEx is for

  • Homeschool families

Plan each child’s week and keep the records your state asks for.

  • Homeschool co-ops

Class sign-ups, open spots, volunteer jobs and fees in one place.

  • Learning centers and microschools

Daily attendance, pickup, families and the classes in between.

  • Small private schools

Admissions to report cards, for up to about 500 students.

Sound familiar?

Most small schools run on a stack of free tools held together by one tired person. Here is what changes when it all lives in one place.

  • Enrollment and forms

TodayPaper packets and online forms, then retyping every answer into a spreadsheet.

With SchoolOpExFamilies fill in and sign forms on their phone. The answers land in their record.

  • Attendance

TodayA sheet someone has to remember to update, and a scramble when you need last month’s count.

With SchoolOpExA few taps per class, with allergies and pickup notes in view. The totals keep themselves.

  • Tuition and fees

TodayPayment apps, screenshots and a list of who still owes that nobody fully trusts.

With SchoolOpExBills, payment plans and gentle reminders. Families pay you directly, and we never take a cut.

  • Updates to families

TodayGroup texts where the one message that mattered is buried under eighty others.

With SchoolOpExOne thread for each family and teacher, translated for families who read Spanish or Arabic, with more languages to come.

  • Report cards

TodayCopied by hand from a gradebook into a template, every single term.

With SchoolOpExBuilt from the gradebook your teachers already keep, ready to review and send.

  • Homeschool records

TodayPieced together in June from memory, photos and a planner.

With SchoolOpExLearning days, subjects and work samples logged as you go, in the shape your state asks for.

Everyone sees their part. Nobody sees more.

The office, teachers and families share one record for each family, and each person sees only what is theirs. Pick a seat.

Open the app and see what needs you.

No digging through inboxes. The head of school starts with one plain picture of the day: attendance still to take, concerns from teachers, and the few things only they can decide.

  • Decisions waiting on you, each with its next step
  • Who is covering for whom, and until when
  • Every student, family, staff member and class one tap away
The Needs you panel: two decisions, a concern about a student sent by a teacher with a Review button, and a club with no teacher with an Assign a teacher button.

Sample data. Made-up school, made-up people.

Every feature, in every plan.

Plans go by how many students you have, and nothing below is an add-on. Prices will be on this site before we open, with no sales call.

  • Classes and attendance

Take attendance in a few taps and see each child’s days at a glance.

  • Lesson plans and weekly summaries

Plan the week by subject, attach files, and send families a calm summary on Friday.

  • Grades and report cards

Letters or levels, weights you set, and report cards built from the gradebook.

  • Messages and updates

One thread for each family and teacher, translated in the languages we have checked.

  • Forms and signatures

Enrollment, permission slips and agreements, filled in and signed on any phone.

  • Tuition and payments

Bills, payment plans and reminders, paid with the methods you turn on. We never take a cut.

  • Pickup and safety

Pickup checked against each child’s approved adults, medication records and an emergency roster.

  • Homeschool records

Learning days, subjects and portfolios, shaped to what your state asks for.

  • Moving in

Bring families and classes over from spreadsheets or your current system, with a preview before anything is saved.

Why SchoolOpEx exists

Small schools do some of the most important work there is, with the fewest hands. They deserve software that is as careful with children as they are, and simple enough to run on a busy Tuesday.

Built by Karim Baz, a PMP-certified program manager who supported the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences at NIH from 2021 to 2024. SchoolOpEx is made by his company, B7 Collective LLC, in Maryland.

Fair questions.

When can we start using it?

SchoolOpEx opens in summer 2027, in time for the 2027 to 2028 school year. People on the waitlist hear first. Founding schools start earlier, in April and May 2027.

How much will it cost?

Plans go by how many students you have, and every plan includes every feature. Prices will be published on this site before we open, for anyone to read, with no sales call. We never take a cut of the payments families make to you.

Will our families actually use it?

It is built for the phone first, because that is where families are. There is nothing to download from an app store and no password to remember, and messages can be translated for families who read Spanish or Arabic, with more languages to come.

Can we move from what we use now?

Yes. Bring families and classes over from spreadsheets or a file exported by your current system. Every import shows you a preview before anything is saved, and nothing changes for families until you are ready.

Is children’s information safe with you?

It is the first thing we build for. We never sell or rent personal information and never share it for advertising. Each family sees only its own children, each school is sealed off from every other, and encrypted copies are kept by two different companies.

This website holds no children’s information. The waitlist keeps an adult’s email address and the answers on the form, and nothing else.

What if we want to leave?

You can download all of your records any time, in open formats. They are yours, and you are never locked in.

Is it only for schools, or for homeschool families too?

Both. A homeschool family gets lesson plans, learning days and records in the shape their state asks for. Co-ops, learning centers and private schools get the same app with the parts they need switched on.
